VIDEO: Tony Nominee Mentions Beat by Beat Musicals on Late Night with Seth Meyers

We just had a I-can’t-believe-that-just-happened moment!

Patrick Wilson was a guest on Late Night with Seth Meyers and chatted about what it was like for him and his wife to direct their kids’ elementary school musical.

When the Tony-nominated Broadway actor was asked about which shows he and his wife have chosen to do, he revealed they were We Are Monsters and Giants in the Sky — BEAT BY BEAT MUSICALS!

Not only does he win an award for best dad of the year, but we love how he emphasized that he and his wife strive to choose age-appropriate musicals. (“So you don’t have a 3rd grader playing Tevye” …a joke that seemed to go over the heads of the studio audience 🙂

If you’ve been following us for awhile, you know this is something we’re deeply passionate about – creating new characters and stories specifically for kids. Many directors pick mainstream titles with roles that were originally written for adults.

While it was a cool surprise to hear our shows mentioned on broadcast television, it was even cooler that the conversation revolved around the reason we started our company in the first place – to create a new catalogue of high-quality musicals designed from the ground up for young actors.

Wilson, who is in the upcoming film Aquaman, also explained in the interview how his oldest son wasn’t open to his directing notes!

Have any of you directed your own kids before? Can you relate? Let us know in the comments below!

At Beat by Beat we’re passionate about inspiring kids through theatre. That’s why we create and publish a unique collection of musical plays for kids and teaching drama resources.
