Hi everyone! This is Denver. You can use this thread to introduce yourself, where you teach, what age group, if you're currently rehearsing a show, etc. I'm the founder of Beat by Beat and head up our wonderful team (Linda, Betina, Joseph, Brian, Gwynne). For the past 12 years I've worked with young actors in just about every capacity throughout the NYC area. In addition to co-running a private musical theatre program for kids 7-14, I also worked with the education departments at Disney Theatricals, New York City Center and Young Audiences New York. My favorite thing is teaching kids how musicals are written and giving them tools to create their own songs and stories. I've been invited to speak on that topic at national conferences of the American Association of Community Theatre and the American Alliance for Theatre Education. Looking forward to the conversations!

Hi everyone! It's Linda here. To anyone who has ever called our phone line I'm the one you've probably connected with. It's been such a thrill hearing all about your drama programs and the amazing work you've done in bringing new musicals to your communities. What I've learned is that no two programs are exactly alike. I've heard many ideas of how people are staging, fundraising and advertising their shows. We set up this this online community to encourage you to share all your wonderful ideas. I'd also like to say our directors and teachers are the nicest people I've spoken to in my life. I especially love the excitement when I hear how the show was a hit for your community. So feel free to share your pictures too. That's it for me for now. So happy to connect with everyone here! Linda

Greetings! My name is Valerie and I run a performing arts organization in Western New York called "Encore Experience". We've done "We Are Monsters" and my kids loved it! I think the shows have great messages and catchy songs, pricing is fair, and the staff is courteous. Looking forward to doing another BBB show soon.

Hello from Indiana! :) I have 45+ voice students in my private studio, and also direct with area theatres. I do a program called 'Musical Theatre Fast Track' with Elkhart Civic; we do 10 rehearsals, 8:30am-noon, with performances the 2nd weekend. I typically have 30-40 kids ages 12-18. This year our show was Tut Tut; we completely sold out our 2 scheduled performances and had to add another! The kids *loved* this show, and the music was some of the best I've heard in my 10 years of the program. I will DEFINITELY be looking at future shows from Beat by Beat!!

Hello! I'm Joe, an elementary school principal, theatre director and playwright. I own a teen theatre company in NJ (Teen Drama) and have been directing kids and adults for about 15 years now. I'm starting my second community theater (now in MN). I haven't directed a BBB show yet but I've read a few and think they're pretty genius!!

Hi everyone my name is Jeff and I am a 4th & 5th grade musical theater teacher in Albany, California. I also teach K-3 general Kodaly music and early childhood music classes in my music studio. I have not performed a BBBPress show yet, but I love the lessons and theater games and use them in every class. Let me know if there is a musical that you really liked performing.

Hello from Calgary! I'm looking to start a drama club for my middle school students and maybe one for the kidos. There have no drama as an option as its a small school and I'd love to bring a bit to the kids. I think the drama club will serve as a bit of release as its such a small rural school. I don't have much extra time as I'm full up. Any ideas for how often we could meet, realistically, what about really easy activities so they don't feel they have extra work. Ideally I'd love to do a One Act next year. The school has no budget for anything extra.

Hello from Spencer Indiana! I am volunteering as Director for PressStart! with a Day Camp this year. We are performing in August. The kids have been working really hard and we are very excited. Most of them are between grades 1-6 and they are not experienced in drama or musicals. I have performed in many myself and have assistant directed a few. We are having a blast. :) We are doing this on an extremely low budget. I am always interest in ideas and feedback!
